Rally

The winning team, I think!

We went watch a rally over the weekend. Yolandi came down to visit as NJ, her boyfriend, does the TV camera's that are fitted in the vehicles. He fits the camera's and makes sure they work through all the stages of the rally. I was really stunned to realise that a rally is so different to what I had always thought. You watch on TV and it seems as if one stages follows on to the next one, but they start at a totally different location to where they ended the previous stage. The 2 stages we had watched on Friday were at the same place, but that was because it was held in Pinetown, in town. It was such fun. The had to come from Scottborough, close to Amanzimtoti, and go to Pinetown.

On Friday evening after the rally we went to meet NJ at the Sun Coast Casino, the cars went there after the rally and we were able to see the cars. They were only allowed to work on them for 45 min after they came in and then they go into a holding area that is secure.

On Saturday morning we went down to Scottborough and watched a couple of stages there. The photo's were taken on Saturday. The first photo was the team that won the overall rally, I think. It is a Subaru, but they do not have the Subaru badge on because Subaru does not sponsor them. There car is worth about 5 million rand, this was its first rally. I guess they are impressed and looks at it as money well spent. The top guys change tyres after each stages, Yolandi says. so you can just imagine the cost of this 'sport'.

It was just so amazing. I will definately go again, because we know what to expect next time.

25th Anniversary Celebrations!
